Beneficiary Day 2011

On Friday 17th June 2011, funding recipients of The Shane Warne Foundation (TSWF) were invited to enjoy a fun-filled day at the iconic Luna Park in Melbourne, as part of ‘THE SHANE WARNE FOUNDATION BENEFICIARY DAY’!
Thank you to Luna Park Melbourne and Linfox Property Group for allowing TSWF EXCLUSIVE access to the rides and venue!
The theme of the event was “Bringing Colour to their lives” and its sole purpose was simply for the 2010 beneficiaries of TSWF to join Board members; Ann Peacock, Glenn Robbins and Andrew Bassat, as we celebrated all things “kids” at the most magical place of them all!
‘Tip Top Tom’ the magician dazzled us with his magic tricks, Clown Doctors from the Humour Foundation kept us laughing, Ronald McDonald performed his infamous magic show and all the while, face painters Fairy Sparkles and Fairy Glitter were turning children into butterflies and spiders!
There were rides galore, with the Ghost Train living up to its name and proving NOT to be for the faint hearted! The Pirate Ship making guests feel as though it should revert back to its original name of “The Ocean Wave”! Guests could also take home a pet! Not in the literal sense, much to the disappointment of some attendees – No, it was a BALLOON pet from clever balloon artiste ‘Tricks’!
Highlights of the day included two Mattel Toy TOWERS with Ballerina Barbies, WWE wrestling figurines, Polly Pockets and Matchbox cars! There were plenty of goody bags for everyone that included Wiggles frisbees, chupa chups, yummy muesli bars, McDonalds fruit bag vouchers, “Spinners” soft cricket balls, lanyards and temporary tattoos, as well our hats to ensure all kids were the envy of their friends!
A stylish marquee donated by ‘The Marquee People’ provided attendees with a warm retreat from the wind! Rain was forecast for the day; however the sun was shining the entire time for our special attendees. Bellies were full from enjoying the BBQ of hamburgers and sausages donated by Tasman Meats. Not to mention ‘The Cupcake Queens’ cupcake stands that offered the most delicious sweet for the end of our meal!
Three prizes were awarded for the most colourful outfits, with Harmony Stewart taking home 1st prize; a Melbourne CBD helicopter flight kindly donated by Nugroup. 2nd prize of a $250 “Spinners” clothing voucher was awarded to the man in orange; Mr Christopher Walden and 3rd prize of a photo shoot donated by Ikonurban, was won by Sarah Taylor.
Glenn Robbins spoke at the event saying, “The Beneficiary Day was a huge success, managing to put smiles on the faces of over 200 kids. Having witnessed first-hand the wonderful work done by the Shane Warne Foundation, I feel incredibly proud to be part of that ongoing effort.”
Without the following supporters, this unforgettable day would not have taken place. Our heartfelt thanks to everyone involved;
