Footy Finals Luncheon 2010

What a great day it was for the foundation and the guests who attended.
A mix of sporting and entertainment superstars gathered together to provide a memorable and entertaining day at our Footy Finals Luncheon for over 600 people; in aid of raising money for The Shane Warne Foundation (TSWF) and our goals of helping to enrich the lives of seriously ill and underprivileged children.
Chris Doheny opened the day with his well-known and popular anthem, “Its More Than A Game”, before superstars Hamish Blake and Andy Lee took over as event Emcees and so much more, they were sensational!
Hamish and An
dy were very well supported by a host of stars wanting to do their bit to help children in need including Fifi Box, TSWF director Glenn Robbins and Jason Akermanis who were involved in the Hamish and Andy quiz!
They even managed to get to the bottom of Glenn’s hilarious Kel walk! Did you realise that it’s the moonwalk in reverse?
Garry Lyon then took over as the host of the Footy Panel which included Bill Brownless, Sam Newman, Aaron Hamill, Mick Molloy and Glenn Archer. After much discussion about the upcoming finals series, the Ben Cousins Documentary and Bill announcing that Matthew Knights is definitely getting the sack, before it became public; Jason Akermanis received some Leading Teams treatment on stage and was grilled by the pa
nel! Jason, who is a great supporter of TSWF and a very generous person, took it all in his stride and was, as usual, refreshingly honest!
Strauchanie then made an appearance to cap off the Footy section of the day, you always keep the biggest stars until last and he didn’t disappoint! Unhappy with the welcome he received, Strauchanie left and gave the audience another chance to show their admiration and see if they were worthy of his presence! Apparently, he is the man to spearhead the AFL’s push into China, just ask him!
After the main meal completed the unique menu, Chairman of TSWF, Shane Warne, took over proceedings. He was initially joined on stage by Jim Weber from Scope, a beneficiary of TSWF, who gave us an insight into how the money that has been donated, has impacted and changed the lives of several children.
Shane was then j
oined by Carlos Sila, another beneficiary through the Western Chances music scholarship program, who sang a moving rendition of ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’. Carlos was sensational and he managed to captivate every person in the room.
Shane then called on his good friend, Michael Clarke, to join him in a discussion about the upcoming Ashes and the pros and cons of boot camps.
It was a great day that raised a lot of money for TSWF to continue its great work supporting and funding initiatives for seriously ill and underprivileged children.
